About Us

The International Sufi School was founded in 1883 by Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba (1853-1927), a great Sufi saint of Senegal, considered as the African Gandhi in nonviolence. He devoted his life to establishing a society of peace in a continent ravaged by slave trade and colonization.

True to the vision of its founder, the International Sufi School has under its prime objectives, peace and service to humanity.

The school is now under the guidance of Sheikh Ali N'Daw. It implements the motto: "disarm arm to arm the heart" through conferences and workshops around the world in the United States, South Africa, in Mauritius, the Reunion Island, in England and France. It also works closely with various organizations committed to peace promotion. Meetings and various activities are organized throughout the year as well as trainings leading to being nonviolent.
